Covington owes its history to the humble bovine. The town was first laid out in a pattern that had many free parking areas known as ox lots. This was where people visited to trade goods from Covington to New Orleans. Now, the town has grown to over 10,000 people and it pays homage to its humble heritage. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and it hosts annual festivals such as the Covington Three Rivers Art Festival.
